Pandemic Dawn: Book I
Author: B.A. Shields
An Unlikely Hero Emerges…
Pandemic Dawn offers a look into a future that has been devastated by
a deadly man-made virus. Although all hope seems lost, a man named
Karl “Lunk” Taylor emerges and tries to make sense of the newly
destroyed society in which everyone now lives.
On a quest to find his son, Taylor encounters many people on his
journey, some good, some bad. He has many tough decisions to make.
Does he stop to help others in need or does he focus on his own
problems that need solving. Taylor decides to help others. This
decision is what makes “Pandemic Dawn” so interesting. It makes you
think about what you would do if put in similar circumstances.
The highlight of the book is the characters. Author B. A. Shields
takes time to introduce the side characters and bring them to life.
The “bad guys” in the book are even shown as people who make bad
decisions based on their own choice of self-fulfillment. One
dimensional characters are not found in this book.
The story is never rushed, and everyone decisions in the book have
consequences which affect the other characters in the story. Unlike
other post-apocalyptic stories, this is one not based on a foundation
of despair, but hope. Mankind can survive, but will it choose to?
I found this book very hard to put down, and cannot wait until Book II
comes out.
